A modern-day horror movie everyone seems to enjoy is The Babadook. Jenny loves horror (she married me) so of course we watched it.
Months have passed since we did and in that time I have not changed my opinion. The highly-hyped horror was nothing special and offered fewer frights than blood in the toilet.
The Babadook monster is certainly scary and a cool concept. How often do movie monsters where a hat?
The film’s execution, however, was somewhat disappointing. Personally, I blame Australians.
Have the Australians ever put out a good movie? Other than Mad Max: Pig in the City, I’m at a loss.
Surely, I’m being naive. Australia has produced several good movies yet I can’t think of any nor should you waste your time doing the same. You have a kid to feed, you bastard. Their version of Wilfred was inferior and The Rescuers Down Under was something only a fat retarded kid could enjoy; hence why I have seen it dozens of times.
Even if we don’t want to blame Australians for this overrated horror film, let’s not forget aboriginals were considered animals until two years before man landed on the moon (but not really, not technically, they had been just treated like so). You think Mel Gibson is bad? Imagine how terrible his convict offspring grandfather was.
For me, The Babadook left only a small impression. It’s the kind you get on your butt when sitting on a mint too long. The difference is I didn’t feel anally refreshed after.
As far as scares go, I was only frightened due to the anticipation of something happening. To the film’s credit, though, this isn’t one of those cheap scare-flicks. It actually has a story which I suppose has some deep meaning about losing something you love.

I actually agree with most of what you said, although I do think there is more to the movie.
But you should probably fact check before you say things about a country and a culture you clearly know little about. Indigenous Australians were Never considered animals! That’s a straight up lie and quite offensive to hear as an Australian.
What I assume you are referring to is an urban myth, which originated in the 1970s from a speech given by Lester Bostock, and most Aussies have never even heard of because it’s so bogus.
Indigenous Australians were treated horribly and they are still disadvantaged by the mistreatment they endured for so long, there is no denying that. So repeating false information like that is literally helping no one so please don’t! The article should probably be revisited and changed.

As a Caucasian American you probably shouldn’t shit talk any other country for their past wrongdoings considering how y’all treated not just American Indians but also African Americans.

Perhaps, technically, Indigenous Australians were never categorized as animals. Perhaps they weren’t regulated under any flora and fauna act. And yet you yourself mentioned above that they were treated horribly–perhaps more like animals than as humans? Does that really make it better? Whatever name you give it, maltreatment happened.
And you’re seriously kidding if you think we’re gonna deny or argue the existence of the abuses inflicted towards any group of people, or, worse, that you could project your own guilt on us. Sure, bad things happened before. News flash, they’re still happening now. Name any minority in this whole fucking planet and I could guarantee you a form of abuse is happening right this fucking minute. Do you want to start a discussion on that? The Abos did nothing good to build Australia. They are the lowest rung on the evolutionary ladder and didn’t have the problems Europeans faced with cold climates and invaders with advanced weapons. They havn’t evolved with any problem solving skills just “ hulk smash”!
The French were keen to colonise Australia and the Japs tried to take it.
Abos are a protected species and born wreckers that the system wants to keep to fuel the economy in health, construction and maintenance!
The Indians and Chinks will fix them in 40 years time. Not whites due to politically correct softies!
